Inspiration, though, is contagious and multiform.
Curated by Professors Jeffrey Anderson and Bibiana Obler and featuring the work of MFA students
October 20 – October 31, 2008
Opening Reception: October 28, 5:00 – 7:00 pm

From the curators: The work that has come together to form this show made us think of David Foster Wallace, maybe because he was on our minds anyway. We paged through some of his writing and found this, in a description of the tennis player Roger Federer: “Genius is not replicable. Inspiration, though, is contagious and multiform – and even just to see, close up, power and aggression made vulnerable to beauty is to feel inspired and (in a fleeting, mortal way) reconciled.” These students don’t necessarily achieve beauty through power and aggression, but those first phrases do seem to speak to the way that forms and notions circulate in the studios upstairs.
