Fly Away Recipe

Fly Away Recipe
Curated by Sarah Allison, Evan Hume, and Katherine Sifers, MFA students
September 20 – October 1, 2010
Closing Reception: Tuesday, September 28, 5:30 – 7:00 pm
This was a social exhibition with several different aspects. The following projects were documented in photographs and/or video and posted in the gallery and on the exhibition's web-site.
• Fly Away Recipe: There were recipe cards to fill out in Gallery 102. We released 10 balloons per day with recipes inside. http://www.flyawayrecipe.blogspot.com/ is the web-site with more information.
• Guerrilla Gardening: guests took seed bombs from the "seed bomb machine" to disperse. Or, they could make their own seed bomb in the gallery.
• Tying into Fly Away Recipe, guests were invited to donate ingredients that were part of the recipe they left. All donated goods were brought to our local Capital Area Food Bank.
• There was a closing potluck/discussion on Tuesday from 5:30-7pm. Guests were invited to bring a dish based from somewhere in the world that is in conflict and in need. There was a discussion roundtable at the potluck, and many guests brought donations for the food bank.
