Opening Reception: Wednesday, November 14, 5:00 – 7:00 pm
How do you perceive technology and art?
This show explored the relationship between technology and perspective. Artists were asked to create and submit works that challenge the straightforward perspective from which an audience typically views art. How does technology affect our point-of-view? What’s the difference between looking at a reproduction of a painting on paper vs. an iPhone? How does the proliferation of three-dimensional objects viewed in a two-dimensional screen affect the way we understand the world? This exhibition explored these questions through its mode of installation. Pieces are each displayed twice in Gallery 102. In one half of the room, artworks are displayed as in any typical exhibit. On the other side, each is found as a photograph, on a video feed, or through some other form of technology. Artists were free to suggest the secondary means by which their art is displayed, if they had a preference.
