Featuring the work of Professor Boggs's FA 2179/6279 Slow Food Photography course

The Slow Food philosophy, begun by Italian political activist Carlo Petrini in 1989, to counter fast food, has become an international movement to re-establish ancestral traditions of growing and preparing food in small community settings. Through the GWU Slow Food Photography course, students investigate contemporary food culture, with an emphasis on the Slow Food movement, while considering the role of the artist as a leader in social change. Through photographic documentation, students explore examples of ecologically balanced food practices, such as urban farms, community gardens, farmers markets and small-scale production facilities in the Washington D.C. region and beyond.
