Safe Space was an exhibition focused on showcasing the work of committee members of Gallery 102. The concept was to challenge how the gallery and the works produced by its constituents functioned as places of safety/non-safety. The exhibit called into question the purpose of the gallery - who is welcome, who can display work, who can utilize the space, and the purpose of creating the works themselves. It examined how we and others take refuge in the spaces between mediums and concepts. SafeSpace explored notions of confinement, demographics, liberation, containment, and spacial and personal presence. The comfort found in lived or created experiences could be viewed in each piece. Through literal or epistemic spaces, each artist commented on the idea of spaces and of safety
