Each year, the department hosts lectures and organizes programs that offer students the opportunity to hear from and work with a wide range of visiting scholars and artists. Symposia, seminars, and studio visits bring together students, curators, scholars, artists, and critics in a variety of formal and informal contexts.

Contemporary Art Think Tank (CATT)
Jointly sponsored by GW, The Phillips Collection, University of Illinois, and University of Maryland, the Contemporary Art Think Tank brings together art historians, curators, and critics for discussions on pressing concerns in contemporary art; MFA and MA students are invited to participate in seminar sessions.
